Meet The Doctor
Eddie Chang, MS, DDS — Periodontist
Dr. Eddie Chang received his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Physiology at Boston University and a Master of Science in Biology at Adelphi University. He received his dental degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where he graduated with the Lionel Abzug Scholarship for his dedication to the field of periodontics. After dental school, Dr. Eddie completed three additional years of training at New York University to become a certified specialist in periodontology.
As a periodontist, his training and expertise is focused on the evaluation and treatment of the supporting structures of the teeth, primarily the gums and bone supporting them. When certain situations make the teeth untreatable, he is prepared and knowledgeable in the treatment options of replacing or restoring a missing tooth with bone grafting and dental implants.
Dr. Eddie aims to answer and explain any questions his patients have about their treatment before proceeding with any work. His philosophy for treatment is to be conservative in recommending and limiting surgery to where it is absolutely necessary in relation to restoring and maintaining oral health.
Periodontal Services
Gum Disease
At EC Periodontics, we treat all levels of gum disease. If you notice that your gums bleed or appear red and swollen, you may have early stages of gum disease requiring treatment. Neglecting treatment can lead to progressive tooth loosening, and ultimately, result in tooth loss.
Dental Implants
Crown Lengthening
With crown lengthening procedures, excess gum and bone tissue are removed and reshaped to reveal more of your natural teeth. The result is a more natural, pleasing smile.
Gum Grafting
It is important to treat excessive receding gums to prevent tooth loss. Grafting improves the appearance and the health of your teeth and supporting structures while reducing sensitivity.
Biopsy/Oral Pathology
We perform thorough oral tissue exams at your preventative appointments to protect your health and safety. When tissue must be removed for evaluation, we perform a biopsy and send it to a lab for evaluation. Your comfort and health are our priority.
Bone Graft/Sinus Lift
Sinus lifts are performed when the floor of the sinuses needs elevation to allow for implant placement. A bone graft is performed to add bone density and thickness where bone has been lost, and to improve implant retention.
